The Weeping Cherry ‘Falling Snow’ is a deciduous ornamental cherry tree prized for its graceful shape and snow-like blossoms. In early spring, its long weeping branches become covered in masses of pure white single flowers, creating a cascading effect that looks like a shower of snowflakes.
Size: Usually grows 2–3 m tall and wide, though some grafted specimens stay smaller.
Shape: Naturally forms a rounded, umbrella-like canopy with arching, pendulous branches.
Foliage: Bright green leaves in spring and summer, turning yellow to orange in autumn before dropping.
Bark: Smooth with reddish-brown tones, adding winter interest once leaves fall.
Light: Thrives in full sun; will tolerate light shade but flowers best in sunshine.
Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil (loamy or sandy is best). Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.
Water: Regular watering when young; drought-tolerant once established.
Climate: Hardy in temperate climates – great for Melbourne gardens.
